migration script error (no replies)

I have front end Access and MySQL back end that I use for my website. I use the access to process much of the data tables and then use the Migration tool kit to convert and upload the tables to my site. It works well, but I would like to do some automation by using a migration script that is executed by a button in my access program. I have already created the migration script based on what the toolkit generates. I have listed below the code I am using to launch the script, but it gives me an error "error executing script:...scripts\transfer.lua...8: attempt to index global 'migration' <a nil value>

Function OpenGRTShell() As Boolean

        Dim stAppName As String

        stAppName = "c:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Tools for 5.0\grtsh.exe \r c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\SSFHL2008\Scripts\scrStatTransfer.lua"
        Call Shell(stAppName)

    End Function

migration dropping tables on server (no replies)

I'm not sure how to explain this but here goes. I have an Access 2003 database that I use to maintain my date and them migrate it to the web service that I use to drive my website. All was going fine until roughly a month ago I had a problem with .net on my computer continually trying to update and failing. The next time I ran the Migration everything went as normal until I get to the source schemata screen. When I see the database icon and click next the program closes, no error or anything. When I check on the database through the web hosting company, 90% of the tables are deleted and gone. I have to resort to using backups to rebuild the database and all the views. Can someone tell me what could be causing this and how to stop it? It is driving me mad!

How to specify a maximum number of bulk insert rows at a time (1 reply)

Greetings,

I'm trying limit to bulk insert batch size to a specific number of rows. I have MySQL Migration Toolkit 1.1.17, but I don't see the option in the advance settings of the Data Mapping Options Screen. There is one for limiting the total number of rows to migrate, but I only want to limit the batch size.

Right now, I'm getting batches of about 500 rows for per insert statement but unfortunately, I have a table with lots of longtext columns and I'm busting some limit. The table itself is created without any problems.

If I modify the data insert script after the fact to insert one row at a time, it works, but I've got 3000 rows to adjust 8p

I put the max_allowed_packet to 1000M, but I still get the infamous "Got error 139 from storage engine."

Thank you

Import MS-Access MDB with mysql workbench ? (no replies)

Hi,

apparently the "migration toolkit" has been replaced by "mysql-workbench".

I installed the workbench on ubuntu and now I am trying to find the menu-item that opens MS-Access-databases for importing into a mysql-database.

Please let me know where that can be found.

THX, stn

I can't find the migration toolkit in workbench 5.2 CE (1 reply)

Hi,

maybe I'm blind or only doesn't know how to handle this workbench tool.
I try to follow this article:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/migration-toolkit/en/mysql-migration-toolkit-indepth-welcome.html

But this is the standalone migration toolkit!? Does the workbench toolkit includes the migration toolkit? How to use there, is there any documentation? I can't find it.

Another Question: I only want to get a dump of a MSSQL Database in MySQL Syntax. Is this possible or can the migration toolkit (or workbench) only do its work if there exists an mysql Database?

Thanks in advance
Benny

How to import MS-Access MDB ? (no replies)

$

Hello,

please let me know the most straightforward way to import data from a MS-access-database into mysql using linux (ubuntu 10.04)

- Using odbc and ms-access is one way but 1) it requires ms-windows and 2) I think that this only works if the tables are already in mysql. So transferring data works but creating a mysql-database and its tables does not.

- There are tools for extracting csv-files and also mysql insert-statements from a MDB. I used that before and it works (more or less) but is a bit clumsy, 1) storing lots of data 3 times (in the MDB, in the textfile, finally in MYSQL) and also 2) it requires lots of manual intervention.

So I would be happy to know about some more elegant way.

difference between mysqld-nt.exe and mysqld.exe in MySQL 5.0 (no replies)

Hi

I am working on migrating MySQL 5.0 to 5.1 for my project. We have created a MySQL service to start MySQL. I see that we call:
bin/mysqld-nt --install MySQL-ABC

Now they have removed mysqld-nt.exe in 5.1 version. Is there any difference if I use mysqld.exe for both my 5.0 and 5.1?

MySQL Migration Toolkit JDBC Driver Corrupts Password When Connecting (no replies)

$
0
0
I found that the MySQL Migration Toolkit JDBC Driver is percent-encoding non-alphanumeric symbols in the connection string. As my MySQL password had non-alphanumeric symbols in it, the percent-encoding corrupted my password and caused Target (MySQL) server connection failure due to "access denied".

Removing all non-alphanumeric symbols from my password solved the problem and connection to the Target (MySQL) server succeeded.

Just passing this info along for anyone else who might need it. No sense reporting it as a bug since MySQL Migration Toolkit is past EOL and won't be updated.
